Job Title: Entry Level Safety Certification Specialist

Effective Date: June 26th, 2023

Job Profile Summary: In the role of Safety Certified Technician, you will work onsite directly with HSSU’s customers and learn the skills and company processes necessary to work in the field independently. This role will start out with testing chemical fume hoods, emergency showers, and eye wash stations. As training progresses, this role will test biological safety cabinets and other laboratory equipment, eventually performing testing of cleanrooms under ISO guidelines. Job incumbents in this role are often able to progress to a higher-level Certification Technician within six-twelve months upon demonstrating the ability to apply field training, technical training, and classroom-based training to effectively deliver services at customer sites. Highly competitive benefits package offered.

Job Description:

Full time or Part Time

Testing, Inspections, and In-depth Repairs

  • Performs routine certification and repairs of devices that contain HEPA filters at Customer sites, this includes disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts, rewiring or reassembling as required, troubleshooting and adjusting/calibrating by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment.

  • Tests and performs inspection of Fume Hoods, Laminar flow benches, drop exhausts, spray booths, exhaust enclosures, and other misc. exhaust systems.

  • Tests and performs inspection of emergency shower and eye wash stations.

  • Maintains and is responsible for personal tool and testing equipment inventory.

  • This position requires travel to customer sites throughout New England.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Following Customer and Site-Specific Protocol

  • Ensure Customer satisfaction by communicating proactively and effectively at all times.

  • Communicate regularly with lead technicians and management regarding any changes to the expected schedule and outcomes of service at Customer sites.

  • Identifies potential business growth opportunities and communicated leads to management and sales.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Shift/Hours: Monday through Friday.

Work Location: In the field at Customer Sites; Greater Boston, New England.


Qualifications and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will be customer oriented, energetic, highly organized, and possess a clear desire to learn and develop new skills. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are essential as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment when needed. Candidates must have a safety mindset and fully grasp the importance of their work when it comes to the safety of others.

  • High School Diploma required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, the testing and regulatory results required.

  • Ability to read and write in English required.

  • Proficiency with computers, Gmail, Google Drive, and Windows software (Microsoft word and excel) required.

  • Technical troubleshooting skills and problem-solving skills are required.

  • Ability to work flexible hours.

  • Clean driving record and a valid driver’s license are required.

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role is desired.

  • Experience working with small motors, HVAC, and other trades is a plus.


Compensation and Benefits: 


Starting at $40000 plus bonuses.
